The wait is over! Ajith and Shalini are now blessed with a bundle of joy. Shalini gave birth to a girl child in the early hours (1.40 AM. - 2.10 AM) of today.

Shalini was admitted in Apollo Hospital in Chennai yesterday morning. The child was born after a caesarian operation. Both the mother and child are in good condition, confirm the sources close to the couple.

The couple couldn’t have had a better New Year gift. Ajith, who is basking in the glory of the success of his latest film ‘Billa’, is on cloud nine. The couple is quite happy to have a new entrant in their life.

It’s worth recalling that Ajith said in a press meet conducted prior to the release of ‘Billa’ that he or Shalini had no choice regarding the gender of the baby. “We want the child to be healthy”, was his response.
